The Victorian Garden - the quest for the best

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder - formality or informality, kaleidoscopic bedding plants or billowing borders, anything goes as long as it is in good taste. Collectors' gardens like  Biddulph Grange toured through China, Egypt and Italy whilst the wonders of Empire at the 1851 Great Exhibition also revolutionised glass.
